TRANSLATION SERVICES

Tired of translations that read like translations? As a famous bon viveur once said, “You know you’re in a bad restaurant when the fish tastes like fish”.

My aim is always to give translated text the same flavour and force as a piece of original work. If it reads like a translation, I know I have failed.

To maintain the highest standards of quality, I only translate into my native language (English).

Technical Translation

Technical translation is one of my distinctive strengths. Benefiting from years of experience as a professional computer programmer, I am completely at ease with the often highly specialized vocabulary used in information technology-based technical writing.

Although my core competence lay in the programming language Java, I have broad-based experience covering a range of software technologies, including most major database systems, SQL, XML, web application servers, Unix\Linux, HTML and C++.

Besides extensive professional experience in the field of software engineering, I am also qualified in Mechatronics. This allows me to handle texts from related areas such as Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Legal Translation

Texts often contain both substantive technical and legal content, for example contracts relating to the provision of technical goods and services. As a result, I have also cultivated a specialisation in legal translation. I have now translated a great many legal texts, both with and without accompanying technical content.

Translation Tools

To aid my work, I use the CAT Tools SDL Trados 2007 and Across when required. I also own a wide range of advanced dictionaries, fuller details of which you can see on this page.
